Looking to the Future

by Michael Mattis

It has been nearly six months since I came to Myrtle Grove as the Youth Director. I continue to be amazed by the Lord’s grace and mercy. He is so faithful and good.
Over the course of that time the Youth Group has grown substantially. However, more than sustained growth we have come together as a little family. It is amazing to see the youth press into worship and practice the presence of the Lord in their daily lives. I have had the privilege of watching the youth authentically pursue the Lord through worship and prayer. I have seen them respond to His pursuit of them in their fasting and in the personal relationships that continue to grow within the Youth family. I have been able to be a part of their vulnerability and sincerity as they seek prayer and accountability with their peers. It has been an honor to serve beside the talented and dedicated group of adult volunteers and leaders who continually offer their time and energy in service to our Youth.

As I look to the future, I am full of hope and expectation about what I see the Lord doing. In some ways these are difficult times, and yet I see His sovereign hand moving here at Myrtle Grove.

Our Youth have an exciting Mission opportunity this summer to work with David and Naomi Tepper who direct Betel in New York City. I believe this will not only be a challenging, but a rewarding time for our Youth. I expect them to be forever impacted by the service and experience of this trip.

Following our season of prayer and fasting I continue to challenge the Youth to live a "fasted" lifestyle. I am convinced if we are to see the presence of the Lord in our lives, our families and our church, we must humble ourselves and pray, seek His face and expect His presence and intervention in our daily lives. Let’s not resign to the belief that the best days here at Myrtle Grove are behind us. Instead, I believe the best days are yet to come.

In the Grace and Mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...
